Many of our friends, peers, co-workers, and family members are on Facebook. This is truly a personal space where you can share your thoughts about life and the adventures you are taking, have taken, and want to share with the world. I love catching up with old friends on Facebook and finding out what has been going on in their lives. At our recent Local Chapter Officers Summit, Dan Wilson commented about Facebook: “It’s great having Facebook available to catch up on what has been going on with my fellow officers. I feel like I just saw them last week, when I really haven’t seen them for 6 months or so.” Isn’t that the truth!
I found some very interesting facts about Facebook recently and thought since our industry loves statistics, here are some truly fascinating ones about the world of Facebook, as of January 2010:

- 50% of Facebook active users logon to Facebook every day
- Fastest growing demographics for Facebook is 35 years and older
- 10 million users become fans of pages
- Average user has 130 friends
- Time wasted/spent (depending on your viewpoint) is 6 billion (yes, billion) minutes spent on Facebook every day
- 60 million status updates daily
- More than 3 billion photos uploaded each month
- 70% of Facebook users live outside of the US
