In 1989, Ron Muns, founder of Help Desk Institute (later to become HDI) had an idea, born from people in the “then blooming” industry of technology support, who asked Ron if he would help them collaborate on a national basis…and an idea was born!   That was the beginning of HDI!

As Ron stated many times:  “It wasn’t started by me, or any one person, it was more of a happening.”

Twenty one years later and HDI is still Happening!

HDI is a community of IT service and support professionals who provide HDI with vision, knowledge, feedback, questions, challenges and strength.  Because of our membership community, HDI is able to find out where the industry is going and what it needs to grow, mature, gain strength and improve.  Our goal at HDI in 2010 isn’t very different from when Ron began in 1989…to connect people who share common interests and goals.  People who believe in collaboration for a better future, who have something to share and are willing to share it.

HDI is Happening!  Just attend a local chapter meeting or the HDI Annual Conference.  Talk to a vertical forum member or an HDI account manager.  Sit in on a training class or check out HDI’s website.  The thing they all have in common is HDI…an association that no matter what technology is supported, is still about the people.

HDI brings those people together.  HDI builds the trust between the people.  And once the trust is built the sharing begins.  Once the sharing begins, knowledge is gained and once the knowledge is gained it is again shared with the people.  And so goes the circle of HDI!

HDI is Happening…every single day!
